Mary Madden is a senior executive and entrepreneur with over 25 years experience with fast growth, innovation implementation, improved financial performance, operations, strategic planning and integration of businesses of all sizes. She has worked with numerous early stage, growth and mature companies serving in roles ranging from CEO and COO to consultant. She has extensive experience in growing companies from the seed capital stage to growth and exit strategy, many of which involved hands on turnaround work. Ms. Madden has worked with ValuBond, Inc. (sold), eAttorney (sold to Lexis), fabric.com, Miavendia.com, and LAWDOCS. Ms. Madden worked in top executive positions for numerous companies in the areas of strategy, business model viability, restructuring, human capital development, funding and marketing plans and strategic alliances. She has performed many turnaround evaluations resulting in additional rounds of financing and has provided growth and exit strategy assistance for businesses.
From 1981-1994, Ms. Madden was President, Founder and Co-CEO of Information America, the first company to offer on line access to public record data. She created the firm, raised over $8 million from angel investors and venture capital, grew profitable revenues to $25 million, took public, and then sold the company to Westlaw delivering an attractive return to shareholders. Subsequent to Information America, Ms. Madden joined ChoicePoint as Vice President of Public Records. There, she oversaw the development of a system to collect, route, and track document orders; developed a marketing strategy for the legal market; and handled acquisition initiatives.
Ms. Madden has received numerous recognitions and awards. She was on Inc magazine’s 500 List and a finalist for Inc’s Entrepreneur of the Year for three consecutive years, and was named the Information Industry Entrepreneur of the year award in 1992. She also devotes much of her time to professional and non-profit activities. She is a member of the Committee of 200 and is Chair of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors and was President from 2003 to 2004. She is also a member of the society of International Business Fellows, and travels to Istanbul for a leadership seminar for emerging leaders from Central Eurasia and Belfast for mentoring technology companies. She has served on corporate boards, most recently Synavant Inc., subsequently sold to Dendrite. In January 2006 she co-founded an Atlanta Chapter of Women Corporate Directors for women on public and private corporate boards. There are 24 women in the Atlanta Chapter. She has also served on the boards of the Atlanta School and the Children’s school. She served as a judge for the Nonprofit of the year and the Atlanta Entrepreneur of the Year. Ms. Madden received a BA in Math and Economics from Vassar College and an MLS in Library of Science from Columbia University.
